Echoes of Ingredients #6 | workshop by Corazón del Sol
9.09.2026
Corazón del Sol is a Mexican Yaqui Native and third-generation Los Angeles-based artist and activist whose practice explores historical trauma and possibilities for repair through collective and experimental forms of practice. For the 6th episode of Echoes of Ingredient, titled “Sage divinorum: dreamscapes”, she will explore sage as a plant of healing, altered perception and ancestral knowledge. The session will move between cooking, storytelling, conversation and dreaming, approaching the plant as a medium through which different forms of knowledge and relationships with the unconscious can emerge.
In her daily practice, Corazón prepares a cream made from a variety of 11 psychoactive plants drawn from different cultural and shamanic traditions, conceived as a sensory and ritual preparation for entering the space-time of the dream. During the session, she will invite participants to reflect on plants as agents capable of mediating perception and opening other ways of experiencing time, memory and reality.
As part of the gathering, we will read and discuss writings and work by Eugenia P. Butler, Del Sol’s mother, whose artistic practice explored perception, consciousness, and invisibility. Drawing on Eugenia Butler’s exploration of dream spaces and the unconscious, the session will consider not-knowing and uncertainty as forces capable of unsettling forms of power, authority and forms subjugation. By embracing what remains uncontrollable and unimaginable, can the dream become a space for imagining paths of emancipation and transformation?
Corazón del Sol is a Mexican Yaqui Native and third-generation Los Angeles-based visual artist and activist. Informally taught by her early access to the arts and subsequent questioning of arts’ organising systems, her practice is rooted in collective sense-making through conversation, performance, installation, video, sculpture and curatorial projects. For the past five years, she has been working with private and public entities on transforming our communities by creating a low-cost housing prototype within small eco communities, Jardin de Estrellas. Her work has been shown at international institutions such as Salon Nacional 44 Colombia (Colombian National Salon of Artists) and International Centre for Contemporary Culture, San Sebastian. Del Sol has curated shows including* Dysfunctional Formulas of Love *with co-curator Víctor Albarracín Llanos and Let Power Take a Female Form, and is represented by The Box gallery
This event is curated by Valerio Del Baglivo as part of Echoes of Ingredients, a series of collective cooking sessions exploring how the histories of trade, empire, colonialism, and migration resonate through the trajectories of a single ingredient or recipe — and what these resonances can teach us about liberation, imagination, and empowerment.
