ON ARTISTIC UTTERANCE, THE LABOUR AND OUR POLITICAL TOOLS
30.09.2025
TALK โ 30 September, 5โ9 PM at NERO
We are happy to announce an evening of conversation organised in collaboration with Taring Padi and Institute of Radical Imagination (IRI)
๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ brings together art workers, scholars, and curators to discuss the dynamic between labour and artistic production in different fields of struggles, from anti colonial and capitalism, to feminist and ecological, from local communities to international solidarity against genocidal regimes. On top of that, artificial intelligence reshapes these terrains of resistance: images and video are produced and circulated with unprecedented speed and economy; state and corporate algorithms mediate visibility and invisibility with little accountability; and new infrastructures of control confront activists and artists alike. This symposium asks what it means for art to continue to act as a medium of struggle in the age of intelligent machines.
Invited speakers:
Alexander Supartono (Professor at Edinburgh Napier University and Taring Padi member) on collective labour
Donatella della Ratta (Performer, curator and Professor at John Cabot University) on soft harm and the silent force of speculative violence
Emanuele Braga (Artist, philosopher and activist, IRI member) hacking AI and resistance
